Research Intern – Department of Medicine, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center
Overview of Department:
The Department of Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center has broad responsibilities for the treatment and management of a wide range of biomedical disorders. The department also conducts innovative research to develop new preventive strategies and treatment modalities for the diseases it manages.
Overview of the Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Intern to join an active research group within the Department of Medicine. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in translational research focused on drug development for cancer treatment.
Role Summary & Objectives:
The overall goal of this internship is to participate in the design and development of new cancer treatments based on understanding molecular targets responsible for disease pathogenesis. The intern will gain valuable experience in the areas of molecular biology, drug design, and cancer model testing through close collaboration with chemists and molecular biologists.
Key Activities & Timeline:
- Months 1–6: Learn about ongoing research studies within the group to understand molecular targets and drug development strategies for cancer treatment.
- Months 7–12: Collaborate on the design and synthesis of new agents based on identified molecular targets.
- Months 13–18: Conduct experimental testing of new drug candidates in cancer models.
- Months 19–24: Analyze experimental data and assist in preparing reports and presentations of findings.

Required Education & Experience
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must have a HS Diploma or GED.
- Must reside in the greater Los Angeles area or surrounding cities while conducting all activities related to the intern or visitor appointment.
- INTERNS: Those participating for academic credit must receive academic credit for the duration of the internship.
- VISITORS: Must be receiving funding from an eligible sponsoring institution (employer, educator, funder, etc.).
