EDUCATION / CREDENTIALS
 Ideal candidate will have 2-5 years’ experience in an outpatient medical office setting;
  1. High school diploma; some college preferred;
  2. Current X-Ray Technician certification (Chest, Extremities and Torso-Skeletal to include Digital Radiography) in California;
  3. Graduate of an accredited X-Ray program;
  4. Medical Assistant certification;
  5. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Card (BCLS)
  6. Knowledge of medical terminology
  7. Strong grammar, spelling and punctuation skills
  8. Prefer experience with an Electronic Medical Record
  9. Prefer experience with digital x-ray
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
Performs diagnostic radiographic procedures, positioning patients on the examining table and adjusting equipment to obtain optimum views of specific body area (Chest, Extremities and Torso-Skeletal)  as requested by physician
  • Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment for the radiological diagnosis
  • Assist medical provider in exam rooms
  • Able to assist the attending medical provider during examinations and minor surgeries
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs and document all information in patient’s chart
  • Give instructions to patients as instructed by medical provider
  • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required
  • Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/medical provider
  • Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer services skills
    • Able to work independently or as a team in a highly organized fast-paced environment
    • Excellent multi-tasking ability; cooperative and willingness to assist others
    • Ability to read, write and comprehend medical information
    • Must have excellent computer and Microsoft Office application skills
    • Manual dexterity to use/handle equipment and instruments
    • The x-ray technologist will work with other x-ray technologists, clinical staff and physicians to optimize patient throughput.  They will be a liaison between the x-ray department and the clinical staff to rectify and clarify order discrepancies and changes realized during or upon arrival of patients in the x-ray department.  The technologist will also assist with the importing of patient imaging studies into the PACS system and work with the Imaging Information technologist.  The technologist assistant will act as a patient escort when needed.
