Clinical Research In Urologic Cancer 


Role Summary & Objectives

Research intern will perform retrospective analysis of databases to discover factors affecting oncologic outcomes


Role Activities & Timeline 
The research intern will engage in chart review, data collection, data interpretation, statistical analysis, manuscript authorship and submission. Through their contributions they will contribute to the growth of medical knowledge while learning the fundamental skills of clinical research. Specifically, the student will analyze data from the Tempus LENS dataset of 5M patients with known malignancy. His intention will be to ascertain genetic alteration frequencies across various cancer types and the potential implications on clinical outcomes and treatment. The data analysis and writing is expect to take 3 months and culminate with a abstract submission to a national conference. If he chooses to stay for 6 months he may convert his work to a manuscript which is expected to take 6 months. 

Required Education & Experience 
•    Must be 18 years of age or older.
•    Must have a HS Diploma or GED.
•    Must reside in the greater Los Angeles area or surrounding cities while conducting all activities related to the intern or visitor appointment.
•    INTERNS: Those participating for academic credit must receive academic credit for the duration of the internship. 
•    VISITORS: Must be receiving funding from an eligible sponsoring institution (employer, educator, funder, etc.).
Preferred Education & Experience
Research interns must have a at least be actively enrolled in undergraduate education or higher with a fundamental basis of scientific knowledge to lead to successful understanding of scientific literature.
