Educational Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electric Engineering, Computational biology, or Bioinformatics, or higher in relevant fields (e.g. Biology with strong quantitative training, biostatistics with concentration in bioinformatics)
Basic knowledge about the principles of gene sequencing, proteomics, transcriptomics and experience with handling bioinformatics tools including Sequence alignment, variant calling, mass spectrometry tools, Pathway analysis, Data to Knowledge tools is required.
Programming Languages: Perl or Python (Required), R (Required), Linux, Unix (Highly Preferred), C/C++, Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript. (Preferred)
Strong Background in software development and bioinformatics data analysis concepts. (Preferred)
Experience:
1-3 years in research environment.
Background and work knowledge in algorithms, scientific computing, and machine learning or statistics.
Familiar with C/C++, Java, Perl, python, and the Unix (Linux) environment, Experiences in manipulating, analyzing, and annotating very large genomic (e.g. NGS) data sets, both in exploratory and pipelined fashions, will be a plus.
Physical Demands:
Able to perform moderate lifting. Able to sit, stand and walk for prolonged periods of time. Able to read papers and online documents. Able to operate standard office equipment. Able to exercise physical ability and perspective acuity to satisfactorily perform essential job functions.
