As a Registered Nurse IV, you will assume the responsibility and accountability for the supervision and application of the nursing process throughout the delivery of patient care. The CNIV manages complex, unpredictable patient care situations and is a nursing shift leader. You can look forward to serving as a clinical and operational resource to the nursing staff, the unit, the organization, and the community to promote the advancement of nursing.
Summary of Essential Duties:
- Services as a clinical and operational resource for all nursing activities in the department. When in charge, oversees and authorizes incidental overtime; Provides assistance to co-workers, new staff, temporary staff and students.When in charge, oversees and authorizes incidental overtime
- Delegates and assigns tasks to licensed and unlicensed health care workers within the scope of their job responsibilities
- Coaches and supports nursing staff in the application of advanced clinical skills and critical thinking to support patient care activities
- Evaluates, facilitates and promotes patient flow, coordinates discharge planning and team rounding as applicable
- Assumes responsibility for mentoring, coaching and staff development, acts as change champion; Contributes to performance evaluations
- Champions department improvement activities
- Leads and/or actively participates and supports one or more of the following activities areas: Shared Governance-Chair, MD/RN Collaborative-Chair, Preceptor, Mentor, TCAB, Committee, Project, participation in community service activities or other related
- Performs skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy and the initiation of peripheral venous access
- Provides expert comprehensive direct and indirect care to the specific populations needs, including cultural, spiritual, age, psychosocial, communication, gender, sexual orientation, economic, education, family and condition needs
- Identifies and assesses patient safety concerns with respect to age and developmental considerations. Intervenes to provide a safe environment and evaluates effectiveness of intervention for patient
