Experience:
Two years experience in electron microscopy, preferred. Histology experience may be considered
Educational Requirements:
Baccalaureate Degree preferred.
License/Certification/Registration Requirements:
Specialty certification in electron microscopy technology preferred.
Physical Demands:
Frequent sitting and standing; occasional walking and bending; occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds for distances to 10 feet. Responsiveness to auditory alarms and communication devices including: telephones, beepers, fire alarms, mechanical failure alarms. Visual acuity acceptable for performing duties of this position. Sufficient mobility to access equipment, patients and other customers. Work Environment (work environments, hazards and exposures that may be encountered on the job): Exposure to minimal but constant noise levels. Repetitive hand motions. Microscopic work contributing to eye strain and back fatigue. Daily functions may include incidental exposure to hazards associated with: Automation: close proximity to moving mechanical parts. Chemicals: (reagents, carcinogens, radioactive materials, corrosives, flammables and fumes). Patient specimens, microorganisms, phlebotomy equipment and sharps. Some functions may require use of protective gear such as face shields, gloves, and fluid-resistant coats.
